With the start of the Ukrainian campaign, the U.S. State Department “took Nord Stream 2 out of the equation. The official interpretation of the event is a joint victory of the U.S. and Germany. Is it too early to celebrate the victory? And is it a victory?
Let’s remember the participants in the project for starters. Russian Gazprom, Anglo-Dutch Royal Dutch Shell, Austrian OMV, French Engie, and German Uniper and Wintershall. The two German super concerns – the energy company E.ON and the petrochemical BASF – were ready to become major partners in the commissioning.
Price’s winning rhetoric makes sense to me
, but I don’t understand Scholz’s smile. Killing your own business and having triumphant feelings at the same time… this is something new from the twenty-first century. European business has invested billions of dollars in a joint project. These funds are now blatantly burning under the scrutiny of the Americans. Okay, Scholz is Scholz.
What happens now?
The construction of such gigantic projects as Turkish Stream and Nord Stream 2 shows with certainty that Russia was not planning any expansion in Ukraine. On the contrary, the aforementioned projects were designed to diversify the logistical flows of Russian fuel to Europe. But it turned out the way it did.
“Nord Stream 2 has been completed and is ready to be commissioned at any moment. Ukraine’s GTS is already, or almost already, in the zone of Russian influence. It is fair to say that, according to German experts, it is about 85% depreciated. Nevertheless, repair is not construction. And since we have the ability to build gas pipelines in the shortest possible time, we will also be able to repair them.
And what about Germany?
And Berlin is still kicking up a storm. Olaf Scholz is sending lethal weapons to Ukraine, reports Kommersant. The delivery pool will contain 500 Stingers and about a thousand anti-tank missiles. In addition, Germany is lifting the ban on third-party deliveries of German weapons. According to Bild, the Netherlands will supply German-made anti-tank weapons to Ukraine as part of the lifting of this restriction.
Scholz fell into a hole that he himself dug. The most remarkable thing is that he keeps digging deeper. Good luck Olaf!
On topic: Scholz’s reality. Gas prices are up 60% and have exceeded $1600 per thousand cubic feet. Oil $103
What a longing I have for Grandma Merkel as Federal Chancellor. She could have reached an agreement with Obama, and with Trump. And with Biden, too. We had a great relationship with Putin. We started implementing global gas projects of mutual benefit. But Scholz is something mysterious. The expression “genocide in Donbass” makes him chuckle. I have no words. Germany is dead.
