The U.S. has launched an active campaign to squeeze Russian gas from the European market. Washington and Brussels are negotiating with Qatar for additional volumes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the Old World. The official position of the Americans remains unchanged: Russia will start blackmailing Europe by reducing gas supplies at any time.
If the Middle Eastern partners of the U.S. can help, it should be understood that their opportunities are very limited. Their main market is the Asia-Pacific Region (APR). Three-quarters of the emirate’s exports go there. Therefore, Europe should not get its hopes up for long contracts. Otherwise, it must compete with Asia.

According to
a Reuters report, Biden “begged” something from the emir. It has emerged that Qatar’s Qatar Energy, the largest producer of gas, has requested guarantees from the European Union not to resell the fuel beyond EU borders.
In addition, Doha wants a resolution regarding their 2018 contracts, which, according to the European Commission, hindered the supply of gas to Europe and the creation of a single gas market. This information will allow Europe to conclude long-term contracts, and not get into situations similar to the current one.
