After just one month in theaters, “Encanto” will be available to stream on Disney Plus starting December 24. Subscribers don’t need to pay any additional fees to watch the movie at home. All you need is a basic Disney Plus plan ($8/month).
Set in the Colombian mountains, “Encanto” tells the story of a family with magical gifts from their mystical house. Our protagonist, Mirabel, is the only member of the family without a special power, but finds herself in the position of saving them all. She’s voiced by Stephanie Beatriz, who you may recognize as Detective Rosa Diaz from “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.” The animated movie also features music written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator of “In the Heights” and “Hamilton.”
“Encanto” initially premiered in theaters on Thanksgiving. The film received great reviews, and currently holds a “91% Certified Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
How to watch ‘Encanto’
You can watch “Encanto” on Disney Plus starting December 24. The movie is also still playing in many theaters. No premium access is required to stream “Encanto” at home — all you need is a Disney Plus account for $8 a month or $80 a year.
