“Gazprom” did not book additional capacity for natural gas transit through Ukraine in January 2022 at the auction on 20 December, TASS reported, citing the results of the auctions. “The operator of the Ukrainian GTS put up for auction the transit capacities with a total volume of 15 million cubic meters of gas – up to 9.8 million cubic meters per day through the Suja gas distribution station and up to 5.2 million cubic meters per day through the Sohranovka station. At the end of tenders they remained unclaimed, Gazprom limited itself to the obligations under the current long-term contract, under which it supplies on average about 109 mln cubic meters per day until the end of 2024. The Russian holding also ordered only 21.6% of the offered capacities to pump gas through the territory of Poland along Yamal-Europe pipeline (19.28 mln cubic meters per day against 89.1 mln cubic meters per day offered at the tender). Gazprom’s long-term contract for transit through Poland expired a year ago, since then its capacities have been allocated on the basis of monthly auctions. Previously, “Gazprom” did not book additional capacities for natural gas transit through Ukraine in December, November and October, and in September it booked only 4.3% of the offered capacities. In addition, the company refused to book additional capacity for gas transit in Q1-Q3 2022 through Ukraine and through the Yamal-Europe pipeline.
