Being a Leader contains 30 interviews with prominent personalities of our time.
Prominent CEOs, politicians, and public figures of the 21st century tell what life principles they follow, how they make decisions, and what their goals are. Leadership lessons from real leaders! We publish fragments of the interview with Phil Knight, cofounder and Honorary Chairman of Nike.
When he was a student at Stanford Business School in 1964, Phil Knight first proposed and then implemented the idea of importing sneakers manufactured in Japan. This business, suffering from a lack of staff and funding, eventually became the basis for the creation of Nike, the largest, most profitable and most famous athletic shoe company in the world. He stepped down as Nike’s CEO in November 2004 and as chairman of the board in June 2016, but he remained chairman emeritus, the company’s largest shareholder and inspiration.
Phil doesn’t usually give long interviews, but author David Rubenstein convinced him to do so by promising to come wearing Nike sneakers.
