- MediaMath has been looking for a buyer and exit options in recent years.
Digital advertising exec Joe Zawadzki is leaving his role as CEO of adtech firm MediaMath. MediaMath board member and former CEO of adtech firm Sizmek Neil Nguyen will replace him, according to a source.
Zawadzki founded MediaMath in 2007 as an adtech firm that helps advertisers buy programmatic ads. MediaMath has raised $448 million, according to PitchBook. In recent years, MediaMath has explored sales and hired Luma Partners LLC and Centerview Partners LLC as advisors in 2021, reported the Wall Street Journal.
While ad buying platforms have been recent acquisition targets, its competitors were purchased for significantly less than what MediaMath raised. For instance, Roku bought Mediamath competitor Dataxu in 2019 for $150 million.
In addition to running MediaMath up until now, Zawadzki is also general partner at AperiamVentures, an investment firm that invests in advertising and marketing tech companies.
