Plenty of Fish, often referred to in shorthand as POF, is a popular dating site that has both paid and free membership tiers. Like almost any app, deleting the app doesn’t delete your profile or terminate your account, so if you no longer want to use the service, make sure you deal with your account before you stop using the app.

How to delete your Plenty of Fish profile

If you are ready to leave Plenty of Fish for good, you can delete your account. This is permanent — once deleted, you can’t recover your account, so be sure this is something you want to do. Deleting your profile means that all your connections, conversations, and other data in Plenty of Fish will be deleted as well.

1. Open Plenty of Fish in a web browser and sign into your account if you aren’t already.

2. At the top of the page, click My Profile and then, in the drop-down menu, click My Profile.

3. Click the Settings tab.

4. In the Delete Account section, click Delete Account.

5. Complete the short questionnaire about why you are deleting your account.

Quick tip: Deleting your profile does not cancel your paid subscription, so be sure to do that before you delete your profile.

How to hide your Plenty of Fish profile

If you want to step away from Plenty of Fish without completely deleting your account, the service gives you the option to temporarily hide your profile. You’ll still be able to access your account, but your public profile will be removed from the app and the website, so other users won’t be able to see or connect with you.

1. Open Plenty of Fish in a web browser and sign into your account if you aren’t already.

2. At the top of the page, click My Profile and then, in the drop-down menu, click My Profile.

3. In the Profile Visibility section on the right side of the page, click Hide Profile.

How to cancel a Plenty of Fish subscription

You can cancel your Plenty of Fish subscription at any time, but keep in mind that the subscription fee isn’t prorated. That means you’ll have access to the subscription benefits through the end of the subscription period you’ve paid for, and you can’t get a refund for unused time.

1. Open your Plenty of Fish account page and sign in, if needed.

2. Click Premium at the top of the page.

3. Click Click here to let your upgrade expire.

If you subscribed to Plenty of Fish using your iPhone or Android, you’ll need to cancel using that same device.

If you subscribed using your iPhone:

1. Start the Settings app and tap your Apple ID name at the top of the page.

2. Tap Subscriptions.

3. Tap your Plenty of Fish subscription, scroll to the bottom and choose Cancel Subscription.

2. Tap your profile picture in the upper-right corner.

3. Select Payment & subscriptions and then tap Subscriptions.

4. Tap your Plenty of Fish subscription, scroll to the bottom and choose Cancel Subscription.
