The US stock market will start the main trading session with decrease. Losses in major indices will range from 0.5% for Nasdaq, to 0.9% for broad market index S&P 500. The benchmark industrial America Dow Jones Industrial will lose about one percent.
The premarket is in the red across the spectrum of liquid securities. Moderna (MRNA), a leader in recent days, is losing nearly 2 percent.
Negative concerns in the market are related to the level of efficacy of current vaccines. There is already no doubt that the working variants will not show similar results in the fight against omicron. The only question is how much they will lose. Both Moderna CEO Stefan Bansel and Pfizer CEO Albert Burla made this point quite lucidly.
Standing out against the overall backdrop are Novavax (NVAX) shares, which are adding more than 3%.
Keep in mind that this manufacturer’s vaccine is not approved in any major market. But Novavax has already applied for approvals or approvals in Australia, Canada, the European Union, New Zealand, Singapore and the UK for its COVID-19 vaccine NVX-CoV2373, according to Motley Fool. The company also expects to submit an application in the U.S. by the end of the year.
While the market is already worried about the new Omicron strain, the aforementioned efforts won’t stop the Maryland-based company’s stock from being a growth trigger.
Any difficulty not only creates challenges, but also presents additional opportunities. It is for this reason that NVAX stock could be a potential December leader among vaccine stocks.
