Elon Musk lost almost $17 billion in 24 hours
after
Elon Musk announced his fears about the U.S. economy and announced a 10% staff reduction at Tesla, the company’s shares skyrocketed: on Friday they were selling for about $775 per Tesla security, now it’s around $700. This huge drop not only infuriated investors, but also had a direct impact on Ilon Musk’s fortunes.
Forbes estimates that the Tesla CEO’s fortune dropped by $16.9 billion in about 24 hours. However, this did not prevent Musk to remain the richest man in the world – Forbes estimated the entrepreneur’s fortune at 216.8 billion dollars.
Not yet stonks, but the fall is significant
As for the dissatisfaction of investors, in his own words expressed his chief market strategist Miller Tabak + Co. Matt Maley: “The main thing investors are probably thinking about right now is that Musk should shut up.” The financial analyst also noted that Musk “has been surprisingly quiet the last week,” and the stock was showing good gains. But then the head of Tesla wrote a letter about the cuts, journalists became aware of it – and the flywheel of negativity launched itself.
